Michael E. Schuchat has been practicing in the areas of civil litigation, creditor bankruptcy, real estate, and personal injury since 2010. He has a wide range of civil litigation experience, which includes contract disputes, real property disputes, landlord-tenant litigation, residential and commercial foreclosure, plaintiff personal injury cases, premises liability, slip & fall, dog bite and motor vehicle accident litigation.
Mr. Schuchat received his Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Political Science from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business. After graduating from Iowa, Michael enrolled at Drake University Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctorate and received certificates in Legislative Practice and Public Service while interning for both a state senator and an Iowa environmental lobbyist. Admitted into the Florida Bar in 2010, Michael has practiced in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida since 2011.
Originally born in Iowa, Michael came to the Sarasota area to join his immediate and extended family. Michael is a member of the Sarasota County Bar Association and the Florida Justice Association. He is an active member and former chairman and president of the Sertoma Club of Greater Sarasota, Inc., a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that focuses on helping children overcome speech and hearing challenges. Outside of work and volunteering, Michael enjoys spending time with his rescue pup, golfing, freshwater fishing, and cheering for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
