Firm Mission Statement

Navigating the purchase or sale of real estate has become more multifaceted than ever and protecting your assets is fundamental.

We not only understand the importance of change, we lead it. When the nation saw one of the largest economic recessions in 2008, our firm responded and adapted. We focused our talents on helping struggling central and south Florida homeowners, created proprietary software to maximize efficiency handling files, and proved we could thrive in all economies. Now, real estate and technology has been on the rise, which has led us to invest in becoming one of the first law firms in the central and south Florida area to conduct e-closings. Our attorneys take this progressive approach to every matter.

We believe the key to effective legal representation is extreme attention to detail and frequent contact with all parties, and our lawyers go above and beyond to ensure they are accessible to clients at all times. In addition, we pride ourselves on being an industry leader in technological innovation and place a high value on the ability to adapt to changes on short notice in order to provide the best possible service to our clients.

Whether you are a buyer, seller, new central or south Florida resident, real estate agent, or business owner, our experienced team is available to handle and protect your most valuable assets and loved ones. Our legal team establishes your goals upfront in order to create a custom strategy to achieve those objectives. We are responsive to your needs, answering questions in a timely manner and keeping you informed of all progress in your matter.

We understand that the services we provide come as a result of life’s biggest occasions and we are committed to providing an exceptional customer experience throughout. We have gone to great lengths to create an environment where no detail is overlooked, from our firm culture and services to our firm walls and amenities. We cater to your needs and help you obtain your desired result.

The Berlin Patten Ebling Story…

2003

After working at three large, hierarchical firms, in 2003 Evan Berlin went out on his own with a dream to start a real estate law firm in Florida that challenges the ordinary and provides more personalized service. With just himself and eventually two paralegals, the Berlin Law Firm was born.

A prominent land use and zoning attorney who served as legal counsel to the Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners, Brenda Patten, became a named partner. Our firm evolved into a new brand, Berlin Patten PLLC.

We opened our second Berlin, Patten, Ebling branch on Venice Island. Our first office space in Venice was a quaint space located just below a popular pub. Sometimes just after 4 o’clock you could actually smell the beer through the ceiling. We have since graduated into a beautiful, larger space located just across the street that we had custom designed, without the beer funk.

We began to set our sights towards the north and opened up shop for our third location in Lakewood Ranch. Conveniently located on Lakewood Main Street, this office, fortunately, sits directly above a fine soap shop with a much better aroma.

Although a partner at Berlin Patten since 2009, Jamie Ebling became a named partner in 2014. Our name, Berlin Patten Ebling PLLC, was not the only part of the firm growing. Our firm family nearly doubled in size employing over 20 professionals. Still to this day, we have not figured out how to include an “E” in our familiar logo.

Did you know? – Jamie Ebling was drafted as a shortstop for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays prior to attending law school. He was even recognized in the Hall of Fame.

Outgrowing our former downtown Sarasota location, we traded the skyline view for a modern, custom tailored headquarters that we now call home base. Formerly an outdated bank building, the partners invested in a hidden gem centrally located on U.S. 41 and turned it into a progressive tech-savvy workspace with unique client amenities. We even had a demolition party during the renovation that turned out to be a great stress reliever for all of the staff setting the foundation for us to become one of the best Real Estate Law firms in Florida.

As our relationships grew and we continuously found ourselves on the end of transactions even further north, agents and developers would often say “We wish you had an office in Tampa.” It did not take long for their wish to be granted and our fourth location was established!

Will McComb, Esq. becomes Berlin Patten Ebling’s 3rd equity partner. Born and raised in Sarasota, Will joined the firm in 2014, after working in commercial litigation for several years. As a Sarasota native, with deep ties to the community, Will quickly grew his real estate practice in record fashion.

A few years removed from opening the Tampa location, we once again set our sites across the bridge, but this time in Saint Petersburg. Our fifth location, a state of the art remodel is centrally located in the heart of downtown.
